Data simulaters

Teaching with data simulations means giving students opportunities to simulate data in order to answer a particular research question or solve a statistical problem. There are several ways to use simulations: physical simulations of a process (e.g., taking repeated samples of Reese's pieces candies to simulate a sampling distribution for the ... Both of these network simulators use discrete event simulation which chronologically queues and processes events like data flow. This allows a network architect or engineer to build and evaluate ... WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio --The Air Force Lifecycle Management Center Simulators Division is looking for the next set of innovative and revolutionary technologies to award AFWERX Phase II contracts at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando in December 2020.The Simulators Division, in partnership with AFWERX, is seeking Small ... COM Port Data Emulator is a tool for emulating a com port or an Ethernet device that generates a serial stream of data. The program can create a data flow, wrap it to data packets (RS232, TCP/IP, or UDP) and send it to a port. COM Port Data Emulator can help developers or experts test their applications. The first situation is when uncertainty is high due to sparse data. One such example is the simulation of an ancient Native American tribe, the Anasazi, which was a culture that lived between the 9th and 14th centuries. ... More common examples include airline pilots practicing on flight simulators and doctors learning on test patients. This example shows how to generate output data by simulating a model using an input signal created using idinput. You use the generated data to estimate a model of the same order as the model used to generate the data. Then, you check how closely both models match to understand the effects of input data characteristics and noise on the estimation. If you want to practice investing before risking real money, stock market simulators are for you. Check out Benzinga's free picks for 2020. Fire simulators and fire-fighter training have not been left out of the age of “Big Data.” For example, the City of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department has worked with analysts from the Data Science for Social Good project to streamline their inspection process. This ultimately resulted in Firebird, an open-source framework that uses algorithms to determine which attributes of a commercial ... Arma virumque canō, Trōiae quī prīmus ab ōrīs Ītaliam, fātō profugus, Lāvīniaque vēnit lītora, multum ille et terrīs iactātus et altō vī superum saevae memorem Iūnōnis ob īram; multa quoque et bellō passūs, dum conderet urbem, 5 inferretque deōs Latiō, genus unde Latīnum, Albānīque patrēs, atque altae moenia Rōmae.
Mūsa, mihī causās memorā, quō nūmine laesō, quidve dolēns, rēgīna deum tot volvere cāsūs īnsīgnem pietāte virum, tot adīre labōrēs 10 impulerit. Tantaene animīs caelestibus īrae?
Urbs antīqua fuit, Tyriī tenuēre colōnī, Karthāgō, Ītaliam contrā Tiberīnaque longē ōstia, dīves opum studiīsque asperrima bellī, quam Iūnō fertur terrīs magis omnibus ūnam 15 posthabitā coluisse Samō; hīc illius arma, hīc currus fuit; hōc rēgnum dea gentibus esse, sī quā Fāta sinant, iam tum tenditque fovetque. Prōgeniem sed enim Trōiānō ā sanguine dūcī audierat, Tyriās olim quae verteret arcēs; 20 hinc populum lātē regem bellōque superbum ventūrum excidiō Libyae: sīc volvere Parcās. Id metuēns, veterisque memor Sāturnia bellī, prīma quod ad Trōiam prō cārīs gesserat Argīs— necdum etiam causae īrārum saevīque dolōrēs 25 exciderant animō: manet altā mente repostum iūdicium Paridis sprētaeque iniūria fōrmae, et genus invīsum, et raptī Ganymēdis honōrēs. Hīs accēnsa super, iactātōs aequore tōtō Trōas, rēliquiās Danaum atque immītis Achillī, 30 arcēbat longē Latiō, multōsque per annōs errābant, āctī Fātīs, maria omnia circum. Tantae mōlis erat Rōmānam condere gentem!
Vix e conspectu Siculae telluris in altum vela dabant laeti, et spumas salis aere ruebant, 35 cum Iuno, aeternum servans sub pectore volnus, haec secum: 'Mene incepto desistere victam, nec posse Italia Teucrorum avertere regem? Quippe vetor fatis. Pallasne exurere classem Argivom atque ipsos potuit submergere ponto, 40 unius ob noxam et furias Aiacis Oilei? Ipsa, Iovis rapidum iaculata e nubibus ignem, disiecitque rates evertitque aequora ventis, illum expirantem transfixo pectore flammas turbine corripuit scopuloque infixit acuto.
Talia flammato secum dea corde volutans 50 nimborum in patriam, loca feta furentibus austris, Aeoliam venit.
Insequitur clamorque virum stridorque rudentum. Eripiunt subito nubes caelumque diemque Teucrorum ex oculis; ponto nox incubat atra. Intonuere poli, et crebris micat ignibus aether, 90 praesentemque viris intentant omnia mortem.
Extemplo Aeneae solvuntur frigore membra: ingemit, et duplicis tendens ad sidera palmas talia voce refert: 'O terque quaterque beati, quis ante ora patrum Troiae sub moenibus altis 95 contigit oppetere! O Danaum fortissime gentis Tydide! Mene Iliacis occumbere campis non potuisse, tuaque animam hanc effundere dextra, saevus ubi Aeacidae telo iacet Hector, ubi ingens Sarpedon, ubi tot Simois correpta sub undis 100 scuta virum galeasque et fortia corpora volvit?'
Talia iactanti stridens Aquilone procella velum adversa ferit, fluctusque ad sidera tollit. Franguntur remi; tum prora avertit, et undis dat latus; insequitur cumulo praeruptus aquae mons. 105 Hi summo in fluctu pendent; his unda dehiscens terram inter fluctus aperit; furit aestus harenis. Tris Notus abreptas in saxa latentia torquet— saxa vocant Itali mediis quae in fluctibus aras— dorsum immane mari summo; tris Eurus ab alto 110 in brevia et Syrtis urget, miserabile visu, inliditque vadis atque aggere cingit harenae. Unam, quae Lycios fidumque vehebat Oronten, ipsius ante oculos ingens a vertice pontus in puppim ferit: excutitur pronusque magister 115 volvitur in caput; ast illam ter fluctus ibidem torquet agens circum, et rapidus vorat aequore vortex. Adparent rari nantes in gurgite vasto, arma virum, tabulaeque, et Troia gaza per undas. Iam validam Ilionei navem, iam fortis Achati, 120 et qua vectus Abas, et qua grandaevus Aletes, vicit hiems; laxis laterum compagibus omnes accipiunt inimicum imbrem, rimisque fatiscunt.
Interea magno misceri murmure pontum, emissamque hiemem sensit Neptunus, et imis 125 stagna refusa vadis, graviter commotus; et alto prospiciens, summa placidum caput extulit unda. Disiectam Aeneae, toto videt aequore classem, fluctibus oppressos Troas caelique ruina, nec latuere doli fratrem Iunonis et irae.
'Tantane vos generis tenuit fiducia vestri?
Hinc atque hinc vastae rupes geminique minantur in caelum scopuli, quorum sub vertice late aequora tuta silent; tum silvis scaena coruscis desuper horrentique atrum nemus imminet umbra.
Talia voce refert, curisque ingentibus aeger spem voltu simulat, premit altum corde dolorem. Illi se praedae accingunt, dapibusque futuris; 210 tergora deripiunt costis et viscera nudant; pars in frusta secant veribusque trementia figunt; litore aena locant alii, flammasque ministrant.
Hic pietatis honos? Sic nos in sceptra reponis?'
Olli subridens hominum sator atque deorum, voltu, quo caelum tempestatesque serenat, 255 oscula libavit natae, dehinc talia fatur: 'Parce metu, Cytherea: manent immota tuorum fata tibi; cernes urbem et promissa Lavini moenia, sublimemque feres ad sidera caeli magnanimum Aenean; neque me sententia vertit. 260 Hic tibi (fabor enim, quando haec te cura remordet, longius et volvens fatorum arcana movebo) bellum ingens geret Italia, populosque feroces contundet, moresque viris et moenia ponet, tertia dum Latio regnantem viderit aestas, 265 ternaque transierint Rutulis hiberna subactis. At puer Ascanius, cui nunc cognomen Iulo additur,—Ilus erat, dum res stetit Ilia regno,— triginta magnos volvendis mensibus orbis imperio explebit, regnumque ab sede Lavini 270 transferet, et longam multa vi muniet Albam. Hic iam ter centum totos regnabitur annos gente sub Hectorea, donec regina sacerdos, Marte gravis, geminam partu dabit Ilia prolem. Inde lupae fulvo nutricis tegmine laetus 275 Romulus excipiet gentem, et Mavortia condet moenia, Romanosque suo de nomine dicet. His ego nec metas rerum nec tempora pono; imperium sine fine dedi. Quin aspera Iuno, quae mare nunc terrasque metu caelumque fatigat, 280 consilia in melius referet, mecumque fovebit Romanos rerum dominos gentemque togatam: sic placitum. Veniet lustris labentibus aetas, cum domus Assaraci Phthiam clarasque Mycenas servitio premet, ac victis dominabitur Argis. 285 Nascetur pulchra Troianus origine Caesar, imperium oceano, famam qui terminet astris,— Iulius, a magno demissum nomen Iulo. Hunc tu olim caelo, spoliis Orientis onustum, accipies secura; vocabitur hic quoque votis. 290 Aspera tum positis mitescent saecula bellis; cana Fides, et Vesta, Remo cum fratre Quirinus, iura dabunt; dirae ferro et compagibus artis claudentur Belli portae; Furor impius intus, saeva sedens super arma, et centum vinctus aenis 295 post tergum nodis, fremet horridus ore cruento.'
Haec ait, et Maia genitum demittit ab alto, ut terrae, utque novae pateant Karthaginis arces hospitio Teucris, ne fati nescia Dido finibus arceret: volat ille per aera magnum 300 remigio alarum, ac Libyae citus adstitit oris. Et iam iussa facit, ponuntque ferocia Poeni corda volente deo; in primis regina quietum accipit in Teucros animum mentemque benignam.
At pius Aeneas, per noctem plurima volvens, 305 ut primum lux alma data est, exire locosque explorare novos, quas vento accesserit oras, qui teneant, nam inculta videt, hominesne feraene, quaerere constituit, sociisque exacta referre Classem in convexo nemorum sub rupe cavata 310 arboribus clausam circum atque horrentibus umbris occulit; ipse uno graditur comitatus Achate, bina manu lato crispans hastilia ferro.
Cui mater media sese tulit obvia silva, virginis os habitumque gerens, et virginis arma 315 Spartanae, vel qualis equos Threissa fatigat Harpalyce, volucremque fuga praevertitur Hebrum. Namque umeris de more habilem suspenderat arcum venatrix, dederatque comam diffundere ventis, nuda genu, nodoque sinus collecta fluentis.
Namque haud tibi voltus mortalis, nec vox hominem sonat: O, dea certe— an Phoebi soror? an nympharum sanguinis una?— sis felix, nostrumque leves, quaecumque, laborem, 330 et, quo sub caelo tandem, quibus orbis in oris iactemur, doceas. Ignari hominumque locorumque erramus, vento huc vastis et fluctibus acti: multa tibi ante aras nostra cadet hostia dextra.'
Tum Venus: 'Haud equidem tali me dignor honore; 335 virginibus Tyriis mos est gestare pharetram, purpureoque alte suras vincire cothurno.
Ipsa sed in somnis inhumati venit imago coniugis, ora modis attollens pallida miris, crudeles aras traiectaque pectora ferro 355 nudavit, caecumque domus scelus omne retexit. Tum celerare fugam patriaque excedere suadet, auxiliumque viae veteres tellure recludit thesauros, ignotum argenti pondus et auri. His commota fugam Dido sociosque parabat: 360 conveniunt, quibus aut odium crudele tyranni aut metus acer erat; navis, quae forte paratae, corripiunt, onerantque auro: portantur avari Pygmalionis opes pelago; dux femina facti. Devenere locos, ubi nunc ingentia cernis 365 moenia surgentemque novae Karthaginis arcem, mercatique solum, facti de nomine Byrsam, taurino quantum possent circumdare tergo.
380 Bis denis Phrygium conscendi navibus aequor, matre dea monstrante viam, data fata secutus; vix septem convolsae undis Euroque supersunt.
Ipsa Paphum sublimis abit, sedesque revisit 415 laeta suas, ubi templum illi, centumque Sabaeo ture calent arae, sertisque recentibus halant.
Corripuere viam interea, qua semita monstrat. Iamque ascendebant collem, qui plurimus urbi imminet, adversasque adspectat desuper arces. 420 Miratur molem Aeneas, magalia quondam, miratur portas strepitumque et strata viarum. Instant ardentes Tyrii pars ducere muros, molirique arcem et manibus subvolvere saxa, pars optare locum tecto et concludere sulco. 425 [Iura magistratusque legunt sanctumque senatum;] hic portus alii effodiunt; hic alta theatris fundamenta locant alii, immanisque columnas rupibus excidunt, scaenis decora alta futuris. 440
Lucus in urbe fuit media, laetissimus umbra, quo primum iactati undis et turbine Poeni effodere loco signum, quod regia Iuno monstrarat, caput acris equi; sic nam fore bello egregiam et facilem victu per saecula gentem. 445 Hic templum Iunoni ingens Sidonia Dido condebat, donis opulentum et numine divae, aerea cui gradibus surgebant limina, nexaeque aere trabes, foribus cardo stridebat aenis. Solve metus; feret haec aliquam tibi fama salutem.' Sic ait, atque animum pictura pascit inani, multa gemens, largoque umectat flumine voltum. 465
Namque videbat, uti bellantes Pergama circum hac fugerent Graii, premeret Troiana iuventus, hac Phryges, instaret curru cristatus Achilles. Nec procul hinc Rhesi niveis tentoria velis adgnoscit lacrimans, primo quae prodita somno 470 Tydides multa vastabat caede cruentus, ardentisque avertit equos in castra, prius quam pabula gustassent Troiae Xanthumque bibissent. Parte alia fugiens amissis Troilus armis, infelix puer atque impar congressus Achilli, 475 fertur equis, curruque haeret resupinus inani, lora tenens tamen; huic cervixque comaeque trahuntur per terram, et versa pulvis inscribitur hasta. Interea ad templum non aequae Palladis ibant crinibus Iliades passis peplumque ferebant, 480 suppliciter tristes et tunsae pectora palmis; diva solo fixos oculos aversa tenebat. Ter circum Iliacos raptaverat Hectora muros, exanimumque auro corpus vendebat Achilles. Ducit Amazonidum lunatis agmina peltis 490 Penthesilea furens, mediisque in milibus ardet, aurea subnectens exsertae cingula mammae, bellatrix, audetque viris concurrere virgo.
Haec dum Dardanio Aeneae miranda videntur, dum stupet, obtutuque haeret defixus in uno, 495 regina ad templum, forma pulcherrima Dido, incessit magna iuvenum stipante caterva. Qualis in Eurotae ripis aut per iuga Cynthi exercet Diana choros, quam mille secutae hinc atque hinc glomerantur oreades; illa pharetram 500 fert umero, gradiensque deas supereminet omnis: Latonae tacitum pertemptant gaudia pectus: talis erat Dido, talem se laeta ferebat per medios, instans operi regnisque futuris. Tum foribus divae, media testudine templi, 505 saepta armis, solioque alte subnixa resedit. Iura dabat legesque viris, operumque laborem partibus aequabat iustis, aut sorte trahebat: cum subito Aeneas concursu accedere magno Anthea Sergestumque videt fortemque Cloanthum, 510 Teucrorumque alios, ater quos aequore turbo dispulerat penitusque alias avexerat oras. Obstipuit simul ipse simul perculsus Achates laetitiaque metuque; avidi coniungere dextras ardebant; sed res animos incognita turbat. 515 Dissimulant, et nube cava speculantur amicti, quae fortuna viris, classem quo litore linquant, quid veniant; cunctis nam lecti navibus ibant, orantes veniam, et templum clamore petebant.
Postquam introgressi et coram data copia fandi, 520 maximus Ilioneus placido sic pectore coepit: 'O Regina, novam cui condere Iuppiter urbem iustitiaque dedit gentis frenare superbas, Troes te miseri, ventis maria omnia vecti, oramus, prohibe infandos a navibus ignis, 525 parce pio generi, et propius res aspice nostras. Hic cursus fuit: cum subito adsurgens fluctu nimbosus Orion 535 in vada caeca tulit, penitusque procacibus austris perque undas, superante salo, perque invia saxa dispulit; huc pauci vestris adnavimus oris. Quod genus hoc hominum? Quaeve hunc tam barbara morem permittit patria? Hospitio prohibemur harenae; 540 bella cient, primaque vetant consistere terra.
Talibus Ilioneus; cuncti simul ore fremebant Dardanidae. 560
Tum breviter Dido, voltum demissa, profatur: 'Solvite corde metum, Teucri, secludite curas.
Unus abest, medio in fluctu quem vidimus ipsi submersum; dictis respondent cetera matris.' 585
In freta dum fluvii current, dum montibus umbrae lustrabunt convexa, polus dum sidera pascet, semper honos nomenque tuum laudesque manebunt, quae me cumque vocant terrae.' Sic fatus, amicum 610 Ilionea petit dextra, laevaque Serestum, post alios, fortemque Gyan fortemque Cloanthum.
Obstipuit primo aspectu Sidonia Dido, casu deinde viri tanto, et sic ore locuta est: 'Quis te, nate dea, per tanta pericula casus 615 insequitur? Quae vis immanibus applicat oris? Tune ille Aeneas, quem Dardanio Anchisae alma Venus Phrygii genuit Simoentis ad undam? Atque equidem Teucrum memini Sidona venire finibus expulsum patriis, nova regna petentem 620 auxilio Beli; genitor tum Belus opimam vastabat Cyprum, et victor dicione tenebat. Tempore iam ex illo casus mihi cognitus urbis Troianae nomenque tuum regesque Pelasgi. Ipse hostis Teucros insigni laude ferebat, 625 seque ortum antiqua Teucrorum ab stirpe volebat. Quare agite, O tectis, iuvenes, succedite nostris. Me quoque per multos similis fortuna labores iactatam hac demum voluit consistere terra. Non ignara mali, miseris succurrere disco.' 630
Sic memorat; simul Aenean in regia ducit tecta, simul divom templis indicit honorem. Nec minus interea sociis ad litora mittit viginti tauros, magnorum horrentia centum terga suum, pinguis centum cum matribus agnos, 635 munera laetitiamque dii.
At domus interior regali splendida luxu instruitur, mediisque parant convivia tectis: arte laboratae vestes ostroque superbo, ingens argentum mensis, caelataque in auro 640 fortia facta patrum, series longissima rerum per tot ducta viros antiqua ab origine gentis.
Aeneas (neque enim patrius consistere mentem passus amor) rapidum ad navis praemittit Achaten, Ascanio ferat haec, ipsumque ad moenia ducat; 645 omnis in Ascanio cari stat cura parentis. Munera praeterea, Iliacis erepta ruinis, ferre iubet, pallam signis auroque rigentem, et circumtextum croceo velamen acantho, ornatus Argivae Helenae, quos illa Mycenis, 650 Pergama cum peteret inconcessosque hymenaeos, extulerat, matris Ledae mirabile donum: praeterea sceptrum, Ilione quod gesserat olim, maxima natarum Priami, colloque monile bacatum, et duplicem gemmis auroque coronam. 655 Haec celerans ita ad naves tendebat Achates.
At Cytherea novas artes, nova pectore versat Consilia, ut faciem mutatus et ora Cupido pro dulci Ascanio veniat, donisque furentem incendat reginam, atque ossibus implicet ignem; 660 quippe domum timet ambiguam Tyriosque bilinguis; urit atrox Iuno, et sub noctem cura recursat. Ergo his aligerum dictis adfatur Amorem:
675 Qua facere id possis, nostram nunc accipe mentem.
700 Dant famuli manibus lymphas, Cereremque canistris expediunt, tonsisque ferunt mantelia villis.
Cithara crinitus Iopas 740 personat aurata, docuit quem maximus Atlas. Hic canit errantem lunam solisque labores; unde hominum genus et pecudes; unde imber et ignes; Arcturum pluviasque Hyadas geminosque Triones; quid tantum Oceano properent se tinguere soles 745 hiberni, vel quae tardis mora noctibus obstet. Ingeminant plausu Tyrii, Troesque sequuntur. Nec non et vario noctem sermone trahebat infelix Dido, longumque bibebat amorem, multa super Priamo rogitans, super Hectore multa; 750 nunc quibus Aurorae venisset filius armis, nunc quales Diomedis equi, nunc quantus Achilles. 'Immo age, et a prima dic, hospes, origine nobis insidias,' inquit, 'Danaum, casusque tuorum, erroresque tuos; nam te iam septima portat 755 omnibus errantem terris et fluctibus aestas.'
I will be merciful to you

Deși s-a născut într-o familie bogată, s-a trezit că are grijă profund de bunăstarea marinarilor.
Din fericire, există o altă forță in joc.
Într-adevăr, asta a găsit experimentul.

2019.08.19 22:06 A_Human_Rambler The Universe is simulatable and thus is both physical and virtual simultaneously

The Universe is simulatable and thus is both physical and virtual simultaneously. There exists both a physical universe which we currently preside in and in the future a virtual reconstruction which follows the behavior of it.
We must start with the premise that a physical universe exists and we are a part of it. Everything we observe and experience is part of a real and physical universe of which we are all a part of. That physics is correct by accurately modeling physical behavior. That science is the most effective method for discovering the reasoning behind observable behavior.
The fact that the universe follows the laws of physics allows a computer to simulate a system. Once all of the relevant parts and relationships are accounted for, a system will change over time in a way which can be represented by a model. We are then able to predict future behavior given the rules and initial conditions of a system.
The entirety of the universe cannot be simulated, but small portions of it could be. This wouldn't be a perfect reconstruction of reality, but an approximate rendering of an event. Today's computers aren't sophisticated enough to model a very larger and complex system, but they are advancing.
The capability of simulating reality combined with the advancement of computer simulations will allow for Earth to be reconstructed. With the amount of data we have about the people and their lives, we can reconstruct society and simulate our civilization. It will be easier to simulate limited systems, but as long as progress continues, simulating the entire population of Earth will be possible.
This means that from a point in the future, people will attempt to reconstruct our existence. We will be simulated someday. Therefore are both experiencing this physical reality now and being virtually reconstructed in the future.
I'll try to address some potential responses.
"Isn't this just simulation hypothesis?" - I would agree that the universe is simulatable, but began with the premise that a physical universe exists. Without being within physical reality, there doesn't seem to be much point in existence. I must accept that I am in reality.
"Doesn't your theory require that the future have advanced computers to simulate the past?" - Yes, I am assuming that humanity doesn't revert technologically backward. That eventually, the data being created today will be used in the future.
"So this isn't simultaneous" - Time is relative and the timelines will align. We have a pretty defined history now. Events can be known down to the second. With all of our digital information, human history is being documented. When any recorded event happens in the present, it will be used to recreate that exact same event unfolding as accurately as possible. The virtual follows the physical, but the moment in time is exactly the same for both.
"Unobserved events, the accuracy of simulation and chaos. There are so many parts you aren't considering." - Events which were not recorded won't need to be accounted for. The accuracy of a simulation is dependent upon the information known about the system. The larger and more chaotic the system is, the more difficult it is to construct it within a computer. Tiny changes in the initial state cause a large variation in long term behavior. This can be accounted for in self-correcting software. When the system is changing away from predicted behaviors, restore to a previous state and change the variables to realign the model with the prediction.

The universe is both physical and real, while in a future point being virtual and simulated. This will be true as long as computer progress is made and our digital information is stored.

2019.01.16 16:36 neuralnets120 [R][BAIR] Interpretable machine learning: definitions, methods, and applications

Paper: https://arxiv.org/abs/1901.04592
Abstract: Machine-learning models have demonstrated great success in learning complex patterns that enable them to make predictions about unobserved data. In addition to using models for prediction, the ability to interpret what a model has learned is receiving an increasing amount of attention. However, this increased focus has led to considerable confusion about the notion of interpretability. In particular, it is unclear how the wide array of proposed interpretation methods are related, and what common concepts can be used to evaluate them.We aim to address these concerns by defining interpretability in the context of machine learning and introducing the Predictive, Descriptive, Relevant (PDR) framework for discussing interpretations. The PDR framework provides three overarching desiderata for evaluation: predictive accuracy, descriptive accuracy and relevancy, with relevancy judged relative to a human audience. Moreover, to help manage the deluge of interpretation methods, we introduce a categorization of existing techniques into model-based and post-hoc categories, with sub-groups including sparsity, modularity and simulatability. To demonstrate how practitioners can use the PDR framework to evaluate and understand interpretations, we provide numerous real-world examples. These examples highlight the often under-appreciated role played by human audiences in discussions of interpretability. Finally, based on our framework, we discuss limitations of existing methods and directions for future work. We hope that this work will provide a common vocabulary that will make it easier for both practitioners and researchers to discuss and choose from the full range of interpretation methods.

2017.11.13 11:56 KFC_just A Dark Alliance, and the Vex experiments.

Alliance with Whom?
In the adventure Getting Your Hands Dirty we encounter a Taken invasion of the EDZ, and then redirect this force into the Cabal battlelines in the Gulch to have them attrition each other. After this successful redirection, we later find the Cabal have sent Psions into the Dark Forrest where the invasion was centered, to study and harness the Taken power. Their leader, a Colossus, and his Psion lieutenants are all found within to be completely Corrupted and said repeatedly to be actual Taken. The Colossus is actually Taken as are the Corrupted (yellow bar) Psions, who even drop a Taken Blight when killed, though all are using regular Cabal models and programming so they function properly on the same side as the regular Psions (as it would be more complex to program an alliance function between actual Taken Psion units and the regular Psions, or create a unique Taken Colossus model for this adventure from a production standpoint, hence normal units are used but renamed). However, the title of this adventure, a "Dark Alliance" is never explained, and all we know is that the Cabal are experimenting with Taken Powers, and that inside the Forrest, their leadership has actually been taken. Yet the Cabal and the Taken were working together.
The Third Subclass "Shard of the Traveler" missions (for the Sunbreaker, Stormcaller and Nighstalker) chronologically fit in about this same time period, with a recommended light level of 150+ (ifircc) vs LL160+ for both Getting Your Hands Dirty and Dark Alliance. While enemy composition in each mission varies, the dialogue from Ghost, remains the same, as does the fact that the enemies in all 3 mission variants are Taken. It is also worth noting that the Shard of the Traveler is referred to as "the Dark Shard" at one point during the battle in the secondary instructional text visible when you hold your Ghost out, and the Shard is elsewhere described to have been "cast off" by the Traveler, the forest to be a place of death, and Ghost wonders how the Traveler's Light can coexist with the "Corruption" inside the Shard.
At the end of all 3 mission variants is an ultra class Taken boss, with the title of "Venom of Oryx." The Sunbreaker version of this mission makes this connection even more explicit, as the main enemy type throughout the mission are Taken Psions serving the Venom of Oryx.
The Cabal, or at least a portion of them consciously allied themselves with the Power Behind The Taken, not Oryx, or his remnants, but something else. During the course of this, those Cabal, especially the Psions, where Taken, yet they remained in cooperation with the Cabal and vice versa both inside and outside the Forrest as the Taken invasion spread throughout the EDZ with our help guided by the remnants of Oryx's brood, the Venoms of Oryx.
The Cabal failed in their conquest of the Light because when they asked it was not given, and when they took, it was refused. But the Dark is never given, only taken, and the Cabal are at least beginning to contemplate what this might mean, especially going forward post campaign, and the denial of the Light by the Traveler.
To what end?
Meanwhile the Vex are going in the opposite direction. On Nessus, they have been conducting experiments, originally on the Human crew of the Exodus Black, as confirmed by Failsafe, in a similiar manner to the Ishtar Collective Researchers encountered by Specimen 12, however now they have also been conducting experiments on the Fallen enmass.
On Nessus, the Fallen have been captured and imprisioned, and subjected to behavioural experiments where if the imprisoned Fallen fight and kill each other, the last Eliksni standing will be granted clemency and be free to go. All they have to do is kill their crew. Apparently not one Fallen in all the experiments of this type betrayed the other, which is nice and all, but the real question is why are the Vex conducting behavioural experiments on the Fallen?
Well, an experiment is conducted in order to verify a hypothesis with actual facts. A behvioral prediction, the hypothesis on how the subjects will react, must precede the actual testing so that it can be proven or disproven. Which is totally different to conducting a simulation, such as the Vex are famously fond of doing. A simulation without hard experimental data to prove or disprove its predictions is nothing more than a fantasy.
Yet the Vex are conducting experiments, on the Exodus colonists and crew, and then on the Fallen. Experiments that prove or disprove the simulations, hypothesis and predictions of the Vex. Behavioural experiments that aid the Vex in learning the behaviour of those they study, and gaining the ability to flawlessly simulate them as they did to the Ishtar researchers.
We are "Those Who Wield That Which [The Vex] Cannot Simulate." The Light, and the Darkness, are paracausal and unpredictable. The Vex cannot simulate Guardians, and they cannot simulate the Darkness or powerful/paracausal darkness aligned beings such as Oryx. This is undesireable and hinders their ability to plan around our actions, to predict us perfectly and eliminate us as a threat to their Pattern
Wouldn't it be convenient if there was some sort of Light-like substance which exerted some but not all of the overwhelming unpredictability of the Light (or Darkness). Some substance which could be studied and manipulated and understood, as a means to the end of developing the skills to understand, manipulate and ultimately to defeat the Light or Dark. What if that stepping stone between predictable causal behaviours and unpredictable paracausal systems, what if that was Ether?
What if the theories on Ether being a simulated Light where true, and if this was recognised by the Vex so that they took prisoner huge numbers of Fallen on Nessus, and used them as a experimental feedback cycle in developing accurate theories and simulations of paracausal entities such as the Guardians and the Taken.
Worse still, the Vex seem to so confident in their success in predicting the behaviour of Ether infused Fallen, that when Asher Mir conducts his own experiment to turn the Traveler's residual energy in Io into a synthetic Light during the adventure Postmoder Prometheus, guess who shows up to the party. The Vex. And hidden in the secondary instructional lines visible only when your Ghost is held out, once the Vex appear is the instruction that you must prevent the Vex from "stealing" the experiments equipment and the synthetic Light it has produced.
The Vex were actually trying to steal the synthetic Light. Much like the Worms they stole from the Hive and worshipped but did not ingest, this would have been yet another stepping stone for the Vex in gaining understanding of and power over the Light and the Dark.
So the Cabal turned to the Darkness, and allied themselves with a remnant of the Court of Oryx, the God of Understanding, First Navigator and Taken King, in order to understand the power of the Taken and take it for themselves. And the Vex have used the crew of the Exodus Black and the Fallen as stepping stones in their "unethical experiments" into the predictability and simulatability of Ether and Light, and seek to steal the Light on Io in order to master it and perfect the Pattern
Edit: Also, the second and last mission on Io, Fury where you enter the Warmind Vault JYS-2 takes care to state that Rasputin is the only Warmind, yet he is not here, and to also identify your objective (once more in the text visible only when holding your Ghost out) as the "Golden Age Warmind Netowrk". But during the bossfight at the end when the Taken invade the vault identify your objective is clearly stated as being to "defend the Warmind", while the Network is used to scan the Almighty. Not the Warmind Netowrk, not the Warmind Vault, defend the Warmind itself. Yet this Warmind is not Rasputin, Ikora is quite clear on this, so it appears Warmind Joyeuse (JYS) is going to be a thing, alongside Rasputin (RAS), Charlemegne (CHLM) and the submind Malahayati. Whether Joyeuse is a submind of Charlemagne, like Malahayati is to Rasputin, or an independent Warmind, I don't know. We'll find out in the DLC. But Joyeuse, Cortana and Durandal are all legendary swords from the Matter of France given to Charlemagne, in which Joyeuse was the personal sword of the Emperor Charlemagne, so a close relationship between the two in Destiny would be likely. Bungie has used Durandal as the name of an AI in Matathon, and Cortana as the name of the AI in Halo, so in a sense, of the three great swords acting as naming inspirations for Bungie AIs, Joyeuse, and her master Charlemagne, seem to be next on the list.

2017.07.17 00:01 Nukemarine Most Regretted VR Game Purchases. Results based on yesterday's survey by /u/renaissance_m4n

Thought the thread yesterday offered a good list of games one might want to double check before purchasing. Please read that thread if you have questions about why certain games were "regretted" as not all were for universal reasons. Some like Rec_Room (which is free oddly enough) had multiplayer complaints while others like The Climb were just too intense for some players (fear of heights). More than once price versus what the game offered which is an opinion that can be changed with a lower price.
For the results, I decided to use not just the top post, but any that chimed in with "ditto" or "+1" or similar statements of agreement. I also included names so if I misrepresented your opinion, please message and I'll update. Also, I was lazy early on and abbreviated names then got more accurate as the list turned into something useful.
I probably won't update the list based on comments on this thread, but if somebody wants to do that and message me the formatted list then I'll paste here.

2016.09.19 23:08 jem4687 What are some good tips for making a simulatable system

I am currently interning with a big tech company, whose name I won't mention, and they have asked me to try and do some research on how they can run simulations on there system using prod data after updating/adding new code. An example would be updating a pricing algorithm and testing the effect before it is pushed to prod. I was wondering if you all had any ideas on where I can get started on this research or if you have any input into what are some good programming do's and dont's for making a system simulatable?

2015.01.17 20:03 respeckKnuckles Chapter 3 discussion thread: The method of levels of abstraction

Whereas the first chapter was heavily metatheoretical and the second was more of an overview of problems, here we finally see a method offered by PI to analyze, characterize, etc. philosophical problems: the method of levels of abstraction.
There are a lot of definitions and terminology in this chapter, which will be difficult to follow if you do not have access to those definitions. Luckily, almost an exact copy of the chapter is available online:
http://www.philosophyofinformation.net/publications/pdf/tmoa.pdf
I will therefore avoid retyping the full definitions of most terms introduced here, instead just referring to their page numbers.

3.2 Some definitions and preliminary examples
3.2.6 Gradient of Abstraction
3.3 A classic interpretation of the method of abstraction

Questions Answers
Can you describe outer space and the universe for us? We see photos, but can barely comprehend what we're looking at. I can only imagine what it looks like in your mind's eye. For me, the universe is a place of vibrations, movement, and constant energy. I can't imagine the wonders of the stars, the shapes and clusters of stars, the planets and all that. I read somewhere on this thread, (I haven't gotten back to it yet sorry, I'm working on it), that I had a chance to ask whatever I wanted. I am still contimplating that question. I don't want to ask anything corny or trite. I actually have asked a lot of questions of other people about these kind of things, but I have a lot that I could ask.
Energy vibrations that you are imaging IS what makes matter and the universe including the stars and planets. You are MORE right to describe them this way than when we (seeing people) describe them with colors. Thank you for this. Please forgive me for slow responses, but I'm just now learning how to work this cite.
Does ANYONE see the irony in typing out questions for a blind person on the internet, or am I just crazy? I mean, I know he can have a reader go through everything, but Jesus, can you imagine a monotone voice going down a typical Reddit thread reading everything including novelty accounts? Madness. Actually, it's a bit rough. I've blown off a whole day today just answering questions. Well, it hasn't been blown because I've been enjoying it.
How do you know when to stop wiping? I said, when my fingers don't smell like shit hahahaha! If I did get any shit on my fingers, it washes off.
Did you always win playing 'Marco Polo'? I was a marco polo badass!
This may be an odd question but I have always wondered about it... when you think of colour, what is it you think of? Can you please describe it? It has facinated me for years. Well, color for me is a strange relm, as you might well imagine. My only experiences with the reality of it have come through the use of antheogins. From what I have discovered, as one writer so beautifully put it, red, is like standing a bit too close to a fire of some great size. There are other colors kind of like this to me, for example orange, and electric colors, some yello's and maybe even blue's, although I would think that the majority of blues are quite tranquil in their appearance, or at least that would be my guess. As for green, I picture lushness, I know that it is perhaps kind of corny, but I think of nature. Lush jungles and the like. I understand that there are shades and tones of these colors, and I can picture the diferent green's as maybe diferent plants, bushes or trees. I bet purple is extremely eye catching, I mean bright and vivid. I kind of wonder about the diference between red, purple and violet. Is it like scarlet? When I think of these types of color, I picture bright jems, sparkly or something like that. I am no where near as descriptive as some of you folks, but those are my thoughts.
That's amazing, all of the things you have described is exactly how I think of them. Purple and Violet are very similar but Violet is much deeper. Purple is brighter. Red is also a very deep colour but its much lighter. The idea of color has always facinated me. I guess simply because I can't perceive it in the usual way.
1) When you talk to people, do you gesture with your hands? 2) Can you describe your comprehension of spacial relationships? For example, saying something is a mile away means a couple of things to me. It's an approximate point down the road when I look ahead (a feeling I get when I see that point). It's also the distance I go in a car in roughly a minute. It would take me 10 to 15 minutes to walk there. What is a mile to you? 3) Related to 2, how big does the world seem? Too big to fathom? Or really small? When I close my eyes and concentrate, I know the world's there, but none of it seems real; it's like I'm all that's left. Does the same thing happen to you? Yes, I do tend to use my hands sometimes when I'm speaking. As for spacial relationships, I know about what a mile is, because as a wrestler in high school, we had to run a mile. For me the world is small because of mass communication. When I can hold a meaningful conversation with someone in Australia or somewhere else for example, I realize that the world is growing smaller all the time. However, when I think of the distance, I do feel slightly insignificant.
Please describe in more detail how you experience sounds while you're on acid. Does your brain ever "invent" geometric fractals in response to music? You seem to be quite musically focused, so I'm curious if you've ever had aural synesthetic experiences from acid. Sounds, like visuals are hard to describe, but yes, my mind does create shapes of light which I can se in my mind. Sometimes, the sounds I hear make me se shapes or shadows. Sometimes, sounds just make me think about diferent things. Other times, sounds inspire me to create. It just depends on the drug, the surroundings, and my mind.
How did you meet your wife? And Kirstie Alley, would I ever love an explanation of that one .. I met my sweet wife at a biker ralley. We met, and then two years later, we met again at the same ralley, and we've now been together for 11 years. I wouldn't trade her for the world.
Is your blindness caused from having no eyes or having brain damage in the visual cortex? My blindness was caused by a degeneration of my optic nerve, which happened during my prenatal development.
Is there not an implant to fix that? I had read before about optic nerves being replaced by a chip and allowing partial sight. I have heard something similar, but what what I was told was that there was a 40 percent chance of some kind of brain dammage, and I've got enough of that as it is.
That is really interesting. The eyes can gather data but cannot transfer it. The visual cortex can also process data but can't receive it. I wonder if any information can be process by you. Do you have any blind sight? What do you mean by "blind sight"?
When watching a cartoon t.v. show with more than one character voiced by the same person can you tell when it is the same person voicing multiple characters better than someone who was not blind could? Yes, I can. I am rather good at voice recognition. I love the show Family guy, and I can tell all of the voices that are done by the same guy, and those that are diferent.
Does it ever ruin the show, or make it more confusing for you? Edit: When you can tell that the characters are voice by the same people. It doesn't bother me, unless the voices are bad. If they're good it's not an issue.
How do you know what melting looks like? Was it explained to you or what? Hard to imagine for me. I mean, if you've never seen something melt, how would your mind be able to tell you that it was melting/make something melt? How can you know what melting is? I have experienced a candle, and how the wax melts. I have also observed records which had been left in the sun. I've also stupid left shit on the stove which began to melt. Luckily for me, I didn't burn down the house.
Indoor garden, or do you live in the tropics? Salvia needs a lot of warmth and moisture, pretty tough to grow. I live in Texas, but neither warmth or moisture are a problem.
I live in Texas, and I've heard that I can grow it either in or out of doors.
Ok, I've asked this a few times, and never receive an honest answer. Feel free to continue that trend, as it is kinda personal. How do you know when you're done wiping... ya know... your ass? Is there a possible bidet involved? When my fingers don't smell like shit hahahaha!
How do you explain/describe the colors you saw on your trip. I ask the question because for someone who has seen colors there whole life this is a almost impossible question to answer and I have always wondered if a blind person could see a color how they would describe it. Oh and what musical instrument do you play? I posted an answer to this earlier today, but I can't seem to find it. For some reason, when I post a bunch of stuff, some of it doesn't stay when I shut down and come back. Maybe it's just my dumbass showing. I'll try it again. In my trips, (various antheogins), I have seen what I believe to be red, which, like someone here so beautifully put it, was like standing too close to a big fire. I believe orange to be kind of like this as well, but with more warmth. I've seen what I call electric lights, probably yello's or maybe even purple. Also, bright blue's. However, I feel blue, is much more mello in nature. I do understand about tones and shades, which much like in the world of sound, where tones can vary even within the range of the same instrument. Green's I think of as lush and thick. I know it's trite to say, but, they're nature tones. I imagine the shades to be like diferent plants. I'm curious about diferences, for example between purple, scarlet and violet. What about between indigo and blue?
A blind person using a flight simulator? That seems... strange. Well, as long as it's only a simulater, and not an actual plane, I guess it's okay hahaha! Actually, I have seen those programs, they're a lot of fun, but I can't understand my reader when I get it to the kind of speeds necessary for that kind of gaming. It would probably help in this situation as well if I could.
Do you have perfect pitch? Yes I do.
Do you watch (can't think of a better word) many movies? If so, do you have any favourites? Both my wife and I love a good movie! I have several faves. Clockwork orange being on the top. I also enjoyed Pulp Fiction, the gangs of new york, hell there's a lot of good ones. My wife is really good at describing them to me.
I understand why you'd like Gangs of New York, because Bill the Butcher was awesome! However...A Clockwork Orange!?!? That movie's dialogue is a nightmare! How could you even understand what was going on? I actually experienced the film before reading the book, and yes you're right, it took several times through before I fully understood everything. I have watched it with several diferent people, with varying levels of descriptive skills, and I've learned something new everytime I've seen it. I love that film!
Do you have a dog? I don't have a dog. I have never had a seing eye dog, but I did have a rottweiler for a while. She was my baby, but she's gone now. I now have three cats, and I love them a lot!
How would you know if you've seen colors and can you describe it more? Also do you have more paranoia then people who aren't blind when confused because you can't see where you are or what's around you? My understanding of colors, as I have previously explained, has come from my antheogenic experiments. I have been with people, who after listening to what I saw gave me their opinions as to what it may have been that I saw. As for paranoia, I don't think I experience any more than a sighted person. In fact, I would venture to say that I suffer less in that aspect than most people. I have been nervous as a result of some of my exploits, but I don't think my level of paranoia is anything out of the ordenary.
When I say Green what comes to mind? Lushness, forests, trees, nature. Naturally there are shades I know, but I would compare them to diferent plants, bushes, shrubs, or trees.
Doesn't that happen in a Al Pacino film? Life is stranger than fiction.
How do you know what you're wearing matches? Does someone help you, or do you only own clothing that all matches? My wife wouldn't let me out of the house looking like a dink. If she's not home, it's blue jeans and te-shirts for me. She usually sets up my close in the closet in a way so that, if I want to look nice and she's not home, I can do it.
It sounds like you just described dreaming though? Is it a much more different? Dreams, while they do have that surreal quality are diferent from halucinations in that they are happening in the moment, and my conscious mind is verry aware of them.
Can you list every psychoactive you have used? I'm curious how far your psychonaut adventures reach. I believe I have listed these as well, but I may be wrong so her goes. Lsd, Mushrooms, (both Amanitas and Cubensis), San Pedro cactus, (and other mescalines), Ecstacy, morning glory seeds. Also, I am a huge advocate for medical Marijuana. I know it's not an antheogin per say, but I thought i'd include it anyway. I have not yet tried dmt, or any of the rc's. I want to try them, and I will as soon as it is possible. I've heard about a few other things I'd like to try, some of which can be bought online, such as Yopo, Dipt, sible seeds, and a few others.
Ever panicked on acid? What kind of stuff do you like to get "wired" on? I am glad these things have given you insight you might never have had otherwise. And, I have always wondered... Where in the hell was acid made? Yes, I have had a panic attack on acid once, but I simply started walking around the campus, (I was in college at the time in New Paultz N.Y, and knew the campus grounds quite well), and after a while the feeling subsided. It started with a really peaceful feeling. I remembered thinking how great it was, and then suddenly, it turned horrible. Everything was wrong. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack, and that's what started the spiral. I must say however, that it was because I was with a group of unfamilliar people, (I was just there for the trip), and I was really uncomfortable. As for when and how acid came about. I believe that it was a chemist named Hoffman who first compounded it back in the 50's.
Specifically, what are your favorite pieces of music and why? Who is the greatest composer throughout history? I touched on this briefly before, but it's one of my favorite subjects, and I'm always glad to go there! My favorite music is anything that can take me away. One of my favorite pieces of music for all time has to be the song Dogs, by pink Floyd. Both the animals album, (yes in those days there were really albums kids), and the dark side of the moon album. I also love things like Grand Funk Railroad, Zeplin, Cream, Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Quick silver messenger service, the beatles and all their respective solo stuff, the stones, traffic, blind faith, Jonny winter, and his brother Edgar,(for whom I have the pleasure of opening in September), and so many more.
As for your salvia experience, that happened to me, except that instead of becoming a chair, I almost drowned in my waterbed. Salvia is terrifying for most people but once you realize it's just a trip, you can go places unimaginable. Please forgive me for not getting back to this question, (and a few others), sooner, but I've been having a bit of tecnical troubles. Yes, I have "seen" many things during trips. Sometimes shapes, some time just diferent tones of light. I truly love the Salvia experience, it is like nothing I've ever done. Even though that one epesode scared me pretty badly, I now know why it happened, and I am going to grow some, and welcome her in to my world, as she so freely welcomes us in to her's. As for the other drugs I've tried, I have had many adventures. I was addicted to blow and meth for a while, (I beat them), I have done both types of shrooms, San Pedro cactus, and other types of mescaline. I am a strong believer, and user, of medical marijuana. I believe it is one of the most blessed plants that God created, and I can't believe the audacity of man, to think they have the right to lock up a person simply for enjoying what comes naturally. I love a drink every now and then, but it's nut's that you can go to the liquor store and buy enough whiskey to make you insane, but if you smoke a little weed your a criminal. Sorry, that's me jumping on my soapbox.
Have you ever had any experiences with psilocybin mushrooms? How did this play out? Do you do any other drugs? (Marijuana, Alcohol, etc?) And lastly, have you ever considered becoming "Daredevil"? I love mushrooms, and have had a lot of experience both with those, and with Amanitas as well. It is necessary to be sure with shrooms, that you know what you have. Mistakes can prove fatal!
Do you dream visually? I believe I've covered this one. I do not se in my dreams, they are just what I know, and how I normally perceive things.
A Few Questions... How will you read this question? How do you know when you have fallen asleep? Can you describe what you saw, if you did hallucinate? How is life post-psychedelic experience? When i am playing music my brain associates colours to different tones/timbres, is this the same for you? I know when I have fallen asleep because my conscious mind is no longer functioning. I have already described several halucinations that I have had. Yes, music makes me think of diferent tones and shades. I believe that sound like color has tone, shade, and other qualities.
What are rolls? Rolls are slang for ecstacy, or some faximily thereof.
Have you ever drawn a picture? No, but if i tried, maybe I could sell it as abstract art hahaha!
Do your eyes look normal to other people? Most blind people's are strange in some way. What I am curious is if your pupils enlarge when you are using entheogens? No, they're crossed, or at least the left one is. I always wear shades on stage or in public.
Have you ever taught an android to paint? I've never had the pleasure.
How in the world do you use reddit? it must be so overwhelming. It really is overwhelming! However, I really have been injoying it. There's just a lot happening, and sometimes it's a bit too fast for me. That's why my communications are so slow. I have to read through everything and then answer it. In the meantime, more stuff keeps popping up faster than I can respond to it. I have spent my entire day doing this. I've got to go to work tomorrow, so you probably won't hear much from me. I will try to pop in and answer a few if I can though.
Are blind boys good in the sack? I have a date with one tonight :) Well, I know we're really good with our fingers.
Can you see any shades in color while blind ? I believe I have seen shades of color during various antheogenic experiments.
Are you a musician we are likely familiar with? No, you've probably never heard my music, unless you've been to songramp, or acidplanet. I am there in both places listed as blindman_1000. If you'd like to hear my stuff, just let me know how to send it to you, and I'd be glad to do so.
How are you reading these questions out? I have previously answered this. I use a screen reader. I have also answered the question about dreams. For me, they are as I live.
Do you listen to Terence McKenna? If so, what do you think of his ideas? (if not, I got some MP3s for ya!) I would love to hear them. How can I get them?
Hey - I just sent you an email via the Reddit-mail-thingy. Get back to me! Yah I got it bro, thanks, I can't wait to hear those lectures. I'll let you know when I have heard them.
Ever try DMT? I truly desire that experience, but as yet I have not had the pleasure.
Blind people have refreshable braille displays for reading text on computers as well, y'know. Yes, but I believe that would be much slower than my voice reader. Braille is verry slow.
. I'm not exactly sure how to do this. I know where the links are, but I'm not sure how to put them here. Can I simply coppy and paste them? I would love to share my music with you people, because you've shared so much with me. For the present moment, if you want to hear my stuff, you can go to www.acidplanet.com I am listed under blindman_1000 For some music which I have produced in my studio, (recordings of bands I've produced), go to www.songramp.com If anyone pm's me with an e-mail, I'll be glad to send a few mp3's your way. I can't seem to send mesages here, because when I try, I get this box that says "are you human (sorry) then it says i wonder if these things even work. I know I'm supposed to put something in that box, but I don't know what to put there.
Thanks for being patient folks, but with the help of some of you, I think I've got a link here to one of my songs. Tell me if this works, and I'll post more. Link to www.mediafire.com
This song is one which I wrote, and it's called I Don't know. The group is my band, Crashing Pink Flamingoes. I hope it works, and you enjoy it. Let me know.
You're just putting adjectives to a color, you're not doing anything to describe the colors themselves. What are adjectives for anyway? Are they not descriptive?
We need this question answered. I believe I've previously answered this one. Let me know if I'm wrong.
Brown smells of fresh dirt after it rains, it is soft and dull.... i cant do this, there are shades to color to take in perspective too. Shades, sounds, tones, shapes, it's all rellitave isn't it?
What's in your opinion the strongest psychadelic that increases sound. From what I've heard, (I haven't had the pleasure yet), DMT is supposed to be quite strong in this area. I plan to try it to find out. The only other drug I've ever done that changed sounds was blow. Everything sounded like I was in a tunnel. Whipets used to do stuff like that too. I believe that Salvia may be able to do it, although it hasn't yet happened to me with Lady Salvia.
For me, shrooms provided a lot of auditory hallucinations. I wonder if, because you're blind your sense of hearing is better than mine, so you would have even crazier auditory hallucinations than the rest of us would have. Yes, I've had many auditory experiences with shrooms. Sounds changing, and sometimes even becoming visual things.
Dipt is supposed to be the best for sound. What is Dipt?
It's interesting to me that it is tactile for you. It's emotional for me. I feel hope. Great description. Being blind, I especially appreciate the tactile approach. I can't say enough about this, it's truly awesome! I have read some really tallented writing here. Being a song writer, I am truly impressed.
My guess would be that he wouldn't be able to perceive brightness if it were cortical blindness, but I'd also be interested in the answer. What the docters told my mother when I was born, was that my optic nerv only allowed enough information to be processed for me to se light and dark. He said it was kind of like a shorted cord, but I never quite liked that analogy, because if a cord is shorted, the signal cuts in and out. I can se steady streams of light. There not broken up. I think there's something with LSD that allowed my optic nerv to function more than normal, but I'm not sure. This was one of my reasons for experimenting with antheogins. Well, that, and they're just plain interesting.
Always wanted to know this, I have read science papers on those who were blinded later in life doing psychedelics but never from birth. Awesome post! I'm glad to share what I've learned. Thanks for your kind words.
If you ever get the chance, or if your even into those sorts of things anymore, I would love to know what your experience would be with DMT. I want to try dmt, and I am looking in to it. I will post about it when I get the experience.
Haha ... no, i'm not growing the "la la". There are enough people growing here to make it very accessible and reasonably priced (as low as $125 per ounce for nice stuff). One day though, when personal use becomes legal I will grow for sure. It should be legal everywhere. Man has no right to lock up another for something that he can cultivate naturally, and use without extraction.
You sound like a pretty awesome dude. I've been called all kinds of things. Some good, and others not so good, but thank you.
14$ in Texas. Close enough. Blah. Hell, where in Texas? I'd pay it, it's been that long sinse I've had a good acid trip. I miss it!
I got it in Houston BUT it has been a year and I am STILL trying to find some. =( Let me know if you stumble across any and I will do the same if you want. Yes, most certainly, I'll let you know. Please do the same way. Maybe we can figure out a way to connect if we do. Hell, Houston's only about 6 or 7 hours from me.
Damn, I guess LSD really is rare nowadays. God I love California. There's no way the DEA's claim of getting rid of 95% of LSD is true though... and I've never ever heard of somebody paying $20 per tab. I wish I was there. Is it true that they legalized the noble weed?
It's grade-A bullshit. There's no documentation that they were turning out a kilo, that would be a ridiculous amount. I wish I had times to go into the specifics, but that case really pissed me off. Yah, no way!
Come on, shrooms are super easy to grow yourself and the spores are easily available. Seriously, I got a shroom box with a friend and we don't know what to do with all of it. It's awesome. Really, if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost?
About 300 SEK I believe, about 41 USD according to Google. A friend did it from scratch for about the same + pressure boiler, much better result I think though a bit slower. Wow! That cheaply! I will have to do some googling.
Yeah that sounded a bit off to me, Acid is pretty prevalent in Cali. I just don't se it here in Texas unfortunately. Of course, I'm in a small town, about three hours from Dalass.
If OC goes for .50 a milli, then either the supply is high or demand is low, because in many places in the south it can catch $1 or more per milli. Which says a lot about the general availability of drugs in Cali. Personally, I've never done either H or OC. Downs were never really my thing, except for maybe valiums or zanex.
typically some sort of [insert cheap chemical here] I hate bad MDMA. It's friggin everywhere though. It's only there because this stuff isn't regulated and illegal, and the drug ads point to this fact as a reason for it to be illegal. Pisses me off. Yah, pipes suck!
Where I am from there is still a pretty active shroom scene. Ecstasy doesn't really compare, in my opinon. Some people, (most are those who have travelled extensively with antheogins), do not react to ecstacy. I am personally one of those people. However, there is a possibility that the two times I have tried it, they were not the real thing. The have what they call "pipes", for this drug or combination of drugs which they use to make fake E.
I've been meaning to do this for a long time. Closest I've had to mescaline was 2cb and 2ci, and I really loved 2cb. I've never done any of the RC's, but I've heard good things. San Pedro is wonderful!
you can dry it out make it into a powder. Then warm it (don't boil it!) with orange juice, lemon juice (the more the better) and sugar. The last time a batch was cooked up, friends remarked that it was actually palatable. I'll have to remember this. How would you powder it? The dried stuff I had was hard little chuncks. I think you'd need a mortor and pestol or something.
Implying just because you got a weak tab from a friend of a friend, there isn't any more good acid. I'm not saying it isn't good anymore because I got some weak shit from some bullshit connection. I'm saying it because they simply don't make the shit the same way they used to. I don't care what you've heard, if there's really anything like the Batman acid that Alsley used to make, I sure as hell haven't found it. This doesn't even cover the red windowpane, the green microdots, it just can't be found! I wish it wasn't so, but it just is. I haven't even done anything like that in over 12 years.
He is talking about captha, like on ticketmaster. He is redditing all on his own. Yes, I have no visual assistance with this. I'm doing it completely with only the use of my screen reader. I have had a bit of trouble navegating this cite, but I am having a lot of fun. I don't know what's causing all my dificulties. It's probably a combination of my screen reader, my web browser, (internet 6, which is all that my version of Jaws will support), and the fact that I'm tecnologically challenged. This is why my responses are so slow. I have lost several questions to which I was going to post answers, and I can't seem to get back to them. When I try to click on the thing that says "load more comments", my computer gives me some message about a scrip that is slowing down internet explorer, and it wants me to abort it. I don't know what that's all about. Anyway, I know you folks are used to a much faster pace, please forgive me. I really do want to answer all questions that I can. Sometimes, I'm working in the studio, and I just don't have the time to post. I will try to make at least a little time in the evenings, when I can get online.
You answered my questions in the OP, but I just wanted to thank you for this! Your more than welcome friend, anytime. I'm glad to share.
